we put the "fun" in "dysfunction." add "sun" and you get "dysfunctionsun." or something.

this is by the muralla in old san juan. i love the way the sun streams through the clouds. weirdly enough, the walkway along the city wall is just chock full of kitty cats. i mean, at one bend in the path, some 30 cats emerged from the rocks and the shrubs. it was like some bizarre twist on a hitchcock film.

cute rittle fritter. unfortunately, he had no desire to be a puerto rican souvenir.

here we are at el yunque, the rainforest about an hour east from san juan. connie's leaning over the railing to have a look.

and this is what it looks like. a couple velociraptors and a brachiosaurus and we've got jurassic park.

further east: the beach at luquillo.

and even further east, the horseshoe-shaped playa flamenco on the island of culebra. a bit cloudy that day, so you can't really see the incredible sea green-turquoise water. probably one of the most beautiful beaches i've ever seen.

this is one of the wall plaques at arecibo that offer explanations behind the physical phenomena of space that the radio telescope explores. we thought it was funny that it says "Most of the time, when we ride in a car or eat a mango, we are not even aware of these [everyday] forces." um, right.

here's the hugeass radio telescope. it's that big dish in "contact" and 007 ("tomorrow never dies").

back in san juan, it's another beautiful day at the beach. perfect weather. this is the view from my chaise lounge.
